The Last Home Game of ’10/11: Barcelona vs Deportivo LiveBlog

It’s the penultimate game of the season. Join me in the nostalgia filled liveblog, although I don’t think people will be looking back on the good times, or any times, of the season. Sigh. Nostalgia just isn’t what it used to be, eh?

Remember, no swearing and no spoilers. You get two warnings and then a timeout, if you are a repeat offender. There are times where I may be more lenient than others, but don’t run the risk.

Official Barca lineup (via barcastuff): Valdes – Bartra Mascherano Fontas Abidal – Thiago Keita JonathanDosSantos – Jeffren Bojan Afellay

Bench: Pinto, Alves, Maxwell, Oriol Romeu, Xavi, Messi, Pedro

Pique, Puyol, Busquets, Iniesta, and Villa are all out of the final squad list and watch from the stands.

BARTRAAAA! JDS! IBI! THIAGO! BOJAN! ABIDAL! ALL IN THE SAME LINEUP! *dies, frothing at the mouth*

Glad Busi was officially cleared, unfortunately in the eyes of many he will always be seen as a racist. They think that Busquets’ acquittal is the result of UEFA’s incompetence rather than lack of evidence.

FC Barcelona either needs to hire someone in media relations to keep an eye on the English press and respond accordingly. Or if they do have someone currently in that job they should be replaced!

There is so much misinformation floating around in the English media it is sickening. Namely that Guardiola confirmed that Busquets had made racist remarks to Marcelo in the press conference before the second leg, which all stems from misinterpretation of Guardiola’s quotes about Pedro’s diving. Because this was not corrected the English media believes it as a fact.

It’s the same thing that happened with all of the fake interviews in the Star last summer. The club didn’t respond for months, and by the time they did the fake interviews had been reported and re-reported so many times that most people in England believed them.

The club needs to deal with these situations before they get out of hand, and so far this year they have done a very poor job in this regard in my opinion.

I told you all so! Hope the Barca ‘fans’ who were on here presuming Soggy’s guilt now feel rather sheepish & apologetic. Shame on you all!
