Scorched Earth Policy: 5-0

Don't shoot, let him burn

Just throwing this up as a placeholder of greatness, plus this picture makes me smile wide as I can. We will have much more tonight, but go ahead and comment away about the Monday Night Massacre. I seriously wish I could think of a player on our team who played poorly, or even remotely decent or close to not good. It’s not possible, that’s the most comprehensive beating I have ever seen. Much more later friends. But for now, let’s all enjoy as Messi salts the earth in Madrid.

    hey guys.
    A proud day for sure.
Just because your defence has great pace, doesnt mean you wont get slaughtered when you play it against barcelona.
Also rojadirecta forums are down :p

Oh my God that is so, SO sweet. Hearing all the ‘Almeria rolled over for Barca’ from Madrid fans and then now seeing this. I hope that tweet becomes a news article, its beautiful

Today we showed the world how football is meant to be played. Today we humiliated the whites no matter what MouMou says in the post-match interview. We absolutely destroyed them and we managed to reduce their best player into a frustrated figure who could only manage to threaten from set pieces and not even that because he missed. I am absolutely proud to be a cule since I was 10 years old. This has to be one of the best Barcelona games I have watched in a long time and it is all so special because we crushed the eternal rival. I always knew Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos were bitches but that Clasico confirms it. None of our players touched their manager, none of our players kicked the shit out of their superstar on purpose, none of our players smacked three of their fellow national team mates in the face.

I agree Kari, they were beyond annoying. But at least they admitted the massacre on display. Ikers face was priceless. My ranting for weeks on how I have honestly felt Madrid are an awful team that are far from being classified as a great team, and that was on full display today. Just bc u can beat the little guys, doesn’t mean you can take on the big guys. Can’t wait to see them drop points when they play the other top teams. Today was unbeleivable. Just checking in quickly to say: OH YEAH BABY!!!!!!

My wonderful brother subscribed to GolTV just so I could see this match semi-live (I was about 1/2 hr behind due to the magic of Tivo). This was…orgasmic. Hardly anyone put a foot wrong. Silly arguing aside, THIS is what FC Barcelona is all about. The best team in the world. Believe it.

5 goals and Messi didn’t score? But they marked him so hard and he was still amazing. XAVI SCORED AGAINST MADRID!!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!! JEFFREN: Well done, and Bojangles too! Villa got a deuce –I expect him to get a better rating from Kxevin than a 2. 🙂

I confess I like Casillas as a person, but I was warmed through my little cule bones seeing how completely pissed off he was at his team. HEE! And Sergio Ramos can go to hell and take Pepe with him.

    Oh le le…

My thoughts on one of the best football matches ever,

-Now, there is no need for voting, analysis commenting on who is the best player in the world,it is nonsense.

-For me the best moment of the match, not the goal the performance or the humiliation of the enemy,it is the reaction of the players when Ronaldo pushed Guardiola. It was spontaneous ,sincere and true anger from someone they truly respect and love. One that really means something to them.

-The joy of Messi after the 5th goal was very amazing, even he wanted to score himself,he congratulated his team mate with absolute joy.

    -Benzema,he doesnot worth commenting.

-Arbeloa,one commentator summed it up,he left his marks on all barca players. He was substituted to do this.

-Ramos,he is a thug.To treat your colleagues and teammates in the NT like this .No one call this enthusiasm or spirit or even calls it immature act, He had been playing in the high level foe years.

-Ronaldo,is just a mercenary.when you see him like this ,disinterested just watching from a distance, not fighting, not worth completing.

-Real Madrid is way overrated, when you hear and read commentators and the so called analysts saying that barca defeated the best team in the world,I do not understand it,based on what, results or performance or style.Just the hype, and we all have seen it.

-It is official ,this Barca side is the best football team EVER.

    • Jose
      November 29, 2010

I don’t know if I’d call Ronaldo a mercenary, but it is incredible to hear EE fans decry and wonder about their players’ lack of heart and hunger for the “Madridista cause” when they are starting one canterano (Iker) to our eight.

    Los Glacticos son los miserables.

What a beating! I never imagined in my wildest dreams that the match would end like this. The passing, the triangles, the discipline by our halfbacks, everything was done to perfection.

The tiki-taka passing was that of legend, similar to the 6-2 thumping. I’m elated with pride and I can’t stop watching the clip of Iniesta go toe-to-toe with Ronaldo.

Shut that guy up and send him home weeping. That’s how we do.

Valdano’s comments about Mourinho seem to be something that could stir up trouble:

‘The Argentine’s comments on Jose Mourinho could yet prove controversial. “He couldn’t bring a major correction to the game,” noted Valdano. “Today he didn’t even leave the bench.”‘

  14. Tyler

The best moment (even though there were like 100 best moments) was that fifth goal. All other teams in the world would have packed up shop, held the ball in the corner and wasted time. And to see the WHOLE TEAM jumping for joy after that goal was amazing. Messi who was frustrated the whole game for not putting one in the back of the net went crazy with the rest of the team. Such class, an blatant statement to all the doubters in the world: when we are on, we are still the best team in the world.

You can buy every player and every coach you want, but if you can’t keep us below 60% possession, just forget about it.

The Real Madrid Facebook page has still not put up a status about this game… its like they’re conveniently ignoring it and just not mentioning this result this time around. Find it kinda funny. Also hope Ramos gets a good long ban, d*ck.

  24. Hilal
    November 29, 2010

Wow. Did that really just happen? I felt confident going into this game but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine we would ever see such a dominant performance over Madrid. They only had ONE real shot on target. ONE. All their money, all their stars, all their counter attacking flair…. did they ever once really threaten us? I dont remember one really dangerous attack from them. We snuffed them out so qucikly everytime they got close to us.

I am so proud right now I am not even sure how to express it.

Every player should get a 10 in my book for tonights performance. Not a single player stopped running for the full 90. What a team. I would like to complain that Villa was offside too much, but he took his two goals so damn well and he ran his ass off and was tracking back defending so much, frankly I dont have the heart to do it..

Ronaldo btw is not even worthy of shinnig Messi’s boots. He is so far behind Messi in every aspect of the game I find it shocking how anybody can even try and compare them. Such a classless git as well.

    • ooga aga
      November 29, 2010

want to point out taht villa also created the 2nd goal even though he wont get an assist for it. he beat ramos to get off the dangerous cross that casillas could only swat at, and pedro did well to sneak up behing marcelo and knock it in…

i also thought villa had the “least good” game of our starting 11, but geeze, 2 goals plus another created, thats not bad. 10 goals for the season now.

I know. It is just unreal. The most incredible thing is that he doesnt take an extra touch, he doesnt look up, it is literally dribble, dribble, pass and not just any pass… a perfect pass, perfectly weighted into exactly the spot Villa needed it to be. He is out of this world. Anybody who doesnt think he is the greatest of all time is deluding themselves.

I really would take on Ramos, Carvalho & Arbeloa if I encounter them in real life, anywhere. I wouldn’t mind serving jail time in order to get back at them for hurting Messi.

And this is not the 1st time Ramos tried to create a proble mfor Messi. He did the same last season, kicking the ball at Messi hoping to get Messi a yellow card for obstructing their free kick while Messi was just walking 5metres away. Son of a b*&^h!

You know one more reason I’m so happy, result aside? Is that we seem to have fixed all our major flaws in this game. No players getting into the box? We had four or five players in the box in occasions in this game. No long-distance shots? Messi hit a pretty hard shot from distance that was over, and Busquets barely missed with a shot from really really long range that almost caught Casillas out. Missing chances? We scored five goals from I think 6 shots on goal. Bojan looking inconfident? He looked lively, confident, and got an assist. Villa misfiring? He scored twice and I think also got an assist.

It’s like all the worries I had about the season- poor finishing, possible lack of concentration, Villa’s form, Pique’s form, Bojan, not taking long-range shots on occasion, not getting players into the box, Real Madrid- have been dealt with in this one game, by players showing they can handle all those things if need be.

This Barca side under Guardiola has always somehow managed to step up their game for the big clashes, like the CL knockout games, the Clasicos, and the insane results we get against the likes of Sevilla and Valencia with regularity. It’s so comforting.

What is there to say? I mean really! Every time I even have the slightest doubt about this team and its weaknesses they pull out a performance like this. For all the tactics that we were fussing about didn’t even seem to matter. The gulf in class between the two teams was frankly borderline embarrassing, and not because madrid had no talent, but because we dominated them in every aspect of the game. Enjoy this moment Cules, enjoy this team, undoubtedly among if not the greatest to ever trot on a football pitch…

Can’t say much more than what you all have said. One of the best games I’ve seen in my life. I walked out of that bar with a fat smirk on my face, which managed to annoy the Madrid fans I walked by haha.

Great, great, great performance by our team. All of them played magnificently. Let’s enjoy this moment, while also taking care to be gracious winners. We can celebrate here all we want, but I don’t see any reason to go Madrid blogs just to rub their noses in it.

Stay classy everyone, and Visca Barca!

I wish we get Milan and then the EPL teams in the CL knockout rounds and tear them to pieces.. even in the comment threads for this win after the first fifty or so comments of Cules gloating, Madridistas admitting they sucked, the occasional Madridista blaming the ref (?), people complaining and so on, the EPL brigade have started the ‘La Liga blah blah’ argument again.. I hope Valencia kick Man Utd ass in the CL group stage to win the group, and that the three Spanish teams meet and beat English opposition. Valencia meet Spurs (as much as I can’t help but root for Spurs), Barca get Arsenal, United, Inter or Milan, and Real get Man Utd or Chelsea. I actually think Real could beat one of those sides, even though I think we would find life hard against a full strength Chelsea (but win though).

      • Nik
        November 29, 2010

Agreed. Idk why EPL fans are casting stones at La Liga. None of their teams look like strong contenders in Europe at the moment. Man U is probably the weakest its been in quite some time, Chelsea is showing its age after getting by playing easy teams, and Arsenal is, well, Arsenal. Smh at their overconfidence.

Hats off to the Madrid fans we’ve gotten here so far. Take a lot to congratulate the opposing team after such a game.

Seeing how happy Villa was with both his goals just made my season. I was never especially fond of him, but considering that I’ve never seen him so ecstatically happy when scoring (and assisting) since joining us, I’m confident the only way is up from here.

the only way this day could be better is if we had beaten them 5-0 in their own stadium. we are privileged to be watching this kind of football.

    from bs.com:
Barcelona completed over 600 passes during their 5-0 crushing of Real Madrid on Monday evening in La Liga’s Clasico encounter at Camp Nou.

Also worthy of note were the passing exploits of Barcelona midfielder Xavi, who managed 110 passes in his 87 minutes on the pitch.

    that’s ridiculous.

    Lovely read. /http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=847433&sec=europe&root=europe&cc=5901

    Favorite passage:

“A divide is also evident in the way the two teams have been constructed. Notable exceptions such as David Villa aside, Barca have turned inwards to the academy graduates supplied by La Masia, while Real have instead relied on the chequebook of Florentino Perez. The fact that the final coup de grace was a cross from Bojan, converted by Jeffren – two more acolytes of a finely-honed youth system and philosophy – will only have further underlined that at this juncture in the story of one of football’s great rivalries, Barca are on the right side of history. The school defeated the bank.”

I Haven’t read any of the post yet. I save them for work but two things.

    1. Pique played pretty poorly to be honest. A few of his passes were nearly stolen and off to the races.

    2. Is there any quicker way to download videos off of Rojadirecta? Most of them link 8-10 Rapidshare files and I have to load one, download it, takes 10 minutes or so. Then download the next. Then I can finally unzip after downloading them all.

    Any better way?

With Mediafire files, you can download a bunch of parts all at once (using Mozilla). I used it to download the 4-1 Arsenal match.

You can download all of the links at once, you don’t have to wait till one finishes. Use Jdownloader…. copy the links and it automatically shows up in the program and you download them at the same time. Or you can download torrents. Shouldn’t take that long with seeders.

Or, you can pay a monthly fee to Hotfile or something like that, like I do, and download games within 5 minutes. It’s totally worth it (plus all the movies I download with it as well.)

Regarding Pique, couple of bad passes, but I thought he did his job well tonight.
