The new La Liga schedule was just released after a fake or “early” version was inadvertently uploaded to the internet last night. Rest assured, we here at BFB were not taken in by such tricks or falsities. So here you go, the new schedule, complete with some commentary. These dates are the weekends of these games, meaning that they will either be Saturday or Sunday or that particular weekend (or Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday if listed as during the week), which has not yet been decided.

5/22 – @ Malaga
As you may have noticed, the schedules second half is a mirror image of the first, with the sides only switching locations. Preliminarily at least, it looks like Barça got a favorable draw without having too many brutal or far away games packed into small frames of time. Even the trip to the Riazor comes after the winter break. This looks like a wonderful schedule for our boys, hopefully we can navigate with only one loss again.
In Other News:
-Apparently we are loaning Henrique out to Santander again, huzzah!
– Big rumors that Marquez is going to become New York Red Bulls third DP in a move that should net us a few million here or there.
– One of our youth players, Thiago, scored during the Spanish U-19 game against Croatia at their World Cup to equalize. Spain would eventually win 2-1.
-Not sure of anything else at this moment in terms of transfer rumors.

Only one loss last season, and we are better this year. I wonder….
do you guys prefer to play the 1st el clasico at home or away?
i prefer at home when they are still fresh. to play el clasico at camp nou in the 2nd half of the season is tougher mentally and pyhsically as we would be deep in CL. furthermore, if we won the 1st clasico, madrid would be more tense and eventually lose focus.
Also RM have to open up at the Bernabeu. They can play defensively at Camp Nou, but not at their home ground. Not against their bitter rival. And we know what happens whet teams open up against us.
Yeah , every one knows when team open up against barca. Remember inter vs barca 3 – 1 ??? or you forgot ?
MOU IS CURSE TO BARCELONA : Mark my words.
Is it just me or do Real always get the home draw in the “second leg?” For me this is an unfavorable situation, and perhaps shows some Madrid favoritism in the random? draw.
At home is much better. Considering the fact that Real Madrid are getting better by the game, and their starting to play as a team, i really dont want to be embarrased at home. So the earlier the better. Barca play better away than at home anyway…
will the EE get sloppy seconds this year?
I think that when two clubs are as strong as we and they, there are no sloppy seconds. I think that as with last season, a couple of matches will decide the title.
Know that they will be a lot stronger this season. Quite possibly Mourinho’s biggest strength is that he is a pragmatist, who will do whatever is necessary to win. Look at Inter at the Camp Nou last season. The tactical change was the exact right one, and he didn’t care a whit about what pundits would have to say.
He is going about strengthening them in the right areas, and will not be at all swayed by Flo Flo and the press talking about what kind of football his side plays.
And Mourinho’s teams always have a mental toughness to them. So we will have a great, and intense Liga campaign to look forward to.
Can’t wait.
Oh, and this is a pretty depressing read (or it was for me):
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jul/11/worldcup2010-fifa-blatter-said-done
I think he meant what happened two seasons ago. That is, Real Madrid would always play the team that we had just played in the previous match date, i.e. sloppy seconds.
Real get Almeria’s sloppy seconds, we get Bilbao’s..
Valencia get ours.
wait, the part about Larissa Riquelme posing for Playboy? because that’s not depressing AT ALL.
Wow, no crazy runs including villareal, valencia, madrid etc. all that the same time.
I hope the classico doesn’t land near any crazy UCL fixtures.
Secod El Clasico is between quarter-finals and semi-finals of the CL.
Quarter-finals
5-6 April 2011
12-13 April 2011
El Clasico
17 April 2011
Semi-finals
26-27 April 2011
3-4 May 2011
Assuming we make it that far, that is totally livable. If we push in the 1st quarter final leg and are successful players can be rested in the second leg with an eye on Madrid.
I see 2 slightly tight stretches (in both halves), but nothing to compare with the tube of hell schedule couple years ago! (it is a different story that we emerged almost unscathed :-))
Athletic Club (Bilbao)
Mallorca
Valencia
Sevilla
Getafe
Villareal
The road games in this stretch are brutal:
2/27 – @ Mallorca
3/2 – @ Valencia
3/6 – Zaragoza
3/13 – @ Sevilla
3/20 – Getafe
4/3 – @ Villareal
4/10 – Almeria
4/17 – @ Real Madrid
With Champions League and the Copa likely heating up at the same time.
I assume this period will decide the important parts. CL-La Liga
Whoa! Benzema and Ribery detained in the prostitute scandal.
–Filipe Luis to Atletico for 11m? So cheap.
He had a brutal injury. Probably will affect his whole career
The good news is it means he will probably never play for Madrid. A win in my book.
Yeah, quite cheap. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for Atletico they don’t have to pay rich-mans tax.
I read somewhere that Lendoiro has a debt of €2 million to Atlético for Zé Castro which he hasn’t payed since 2008. It’ll be forgotten after the Filipe-transfer.
From barcastuff (aka Pep): The new contracts of all of our players and staff will stipulate that 1% will go to the foundation, and to help former players in need. It went into effect with the new deals for Guardiola and Adriano.
Anybody can call us all the names they want, but I love this club.
0,5% to the foundation, and 0,5% to help former players 🙂 support the elders is common there in catalunya.
It is excellent that they are developing a pension fund for past players. Similar to American 401Ks provided by many jobs.
The NFL is experiencing issues with pension problems right now. In many ways players are used and abused by teams and leagues for profit and when they are old, they are thrown away. Pensions are much needed.
Nice! I might be able to watch Barça at home against Atletico Madrid. Also, I don’t know why I keep reading the British press:
||http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/jul/17/spain-england-world-cup
Footballmood was there before, to post a respond 🙂
The weeks of 11.28 and 4.17 already have classico week written across them in blood red.
Of course, I’m open to renaming the week “fuck mourinho” week, and keeping the name of the match intact.
Also very glad the away is in the spring.
This season’s calendar is better than last season. No doubt. Here hoping the rest of the liga teams surprise us with some quality performances to complicate Real And Barca’s season. Thats better to pick the team that deserve the title more, rather than having couple of matches to decide everything. Which will turn more to a knockout competition.
I wouldn’t get my hopes to high. If anything La Liga will be even more imbalanced this year than the last. If thats even possible.
Here is a nice site that follows La Liga transfers:
And for the record, the same as Last season when there were concerns after RM signed all the 100 millions, I am not worried. The run is ours to lose. “Good luck” beating the offense of Alves-Iniesta-Xavi-Villa-Ibra-Messi with some Keitas and pedros and co.
Mourinho has a big challenge in front of him. While against Barcelona it may help being reactive with his tactics, he need to be proactive in the rest of his games. Unlike in other leagues he cant count on his direct rival to lose against small teams and hand him the title.
With the players they have, they will make it tough. Lot of game changers. I don’t even think they will play -that- ugly, having some good skillful players. But again, Barcelona still have the upper hand. By the way, Who is their striker in the box ?
BUT they still have kaka!! and el pipita! lol
I am going to expound a lot more later, but with Mourinho, he’s an incredible manager from my point of view. His tactics and coaching are top notch. However, and this is a big thing, there is no team in Serie A like Barcelona.
With Inter he could rely on Roma to falter against Palermo or Chievo, or whichever team they slip up against. However, barring the random game against an up-for-it Almeria or Atletico/Sevilla playing at tip-top form, Barça is not going to lose, and is only going to tie a few times.
Take none of this to mean I am overly confident that Barcelona is going to run away with the league this year, far from it, but Mourinho won’t have Italian slip-ups to bail him out now.
Soooo….. Premiership teams have started banning the Vuvuzelas.
You think we’ll follow?
I’m a lil split on this, on the one hand they are kinda festive and on they other they are really ****ing annoying. I’ll go with ban.
All these fixtures, all this Mou stuff, all the el clasico stuff, so stressful.. Im decising this season to enjoy the game, win or lose. We’ve won plenty. I won’t stress. (will this actually happen? prob not).
Some Millions for Marquez? We let Henry off on a Free, but we sell Marquez, whats the futbol world come to??
Henry had 1 year left, Marquez has 2.
we should have payed that new york team for taking henry 😀
— paid — … omfg
FAIL!
We offload Henry’s salary, Stephen, in case you want a serious answer that doesn’t involve dumping shit on Henry.
So the club, even though it was a free, looked at it as a net gain, making it a pretty good deal. He wouldn’t have been worth his salary on the transfer market, given his age and recent fragility. So we gain style points, and lose a large salary.
Or rather, we replaced it with Villa’s large salary, right?
Marquez will be easier to sell, so we should net a few million (and again, lose his salary), though not the 7m that we were trying to value him at.
To add on to this, Henry made something like $10M in wages (he was third behind Messi and Ibra), which may be used to pay the salaries of all our players who need it.
I’m pretty sure Villa is making a substantial amount less than Henry was, let me look for some figures.
Oh Indeed. Thanks so much for that. Makes sense.
what? dan didn’t show up? 😉
im all in for the Madrid game on 11/28 mt thanksgiving break!!!!

For poipoi: hahaha, or should I type, jajajaja
For me: Ouch. That’s painful to watch.
For Americans football fans: Sigh. Not again. (or maybe a single word: Why?)
AAAAAAAAHHHH, CRINGE
***
“SO HENRY, YOU JUST WON THE WORLD CUP.”
“No, no.. I have won the World Cup but not this last one. We did not win.”
***
“SO I HEARD THAT WHAT YOU WERE MOST EXCITED ABOUT MOVING HERE WAS BECAUSE HERE YOU WILL EXPERIENCE LESS RACISM. HOW IS THAT?”
***
“AMERICANS LOVE HIGH SCORING GAMES! SO WHAT WAS THE MOST LOPSIDED SOCCER GAME YOU’VE EVER SEEN! THREE-NOTHING? HARHAR”
“No, no.. ehhh… 6 nothing”
***
Painful to watch.
“David Beckham basically took off his clothes for the sport. What are you willing to do?”
I just want to play, that’s the most important thing.
the man is a star. he should try acting, seriously 😀 😀 😀
…big scoring games… Is it really that way or only the media says so?? So they can fry you in commercials (american football basketball baseball) But still, ok that’s cool, please keep thinking like that and leave football to us. please, if you ever really get into it we’re lost. And that racism stuff… umm perdona??? I seriously think it’s not like that in Spain where I live, no one thinks they’re inferior or something, opponent “afficionados” just look for something to shout you for and offend. “fatso” “drunk” “nigga” “fagget” “monkey” “midget” “catalan” “franchute” “slow” “blonde – rubia” you name it …no offense I don’t say being cromatically or sexually different is like a fault or bad or anything please. I have been called racist here some times and Spain as a country also. How can you think that anyone thinks of a race as inferior, specially when the’re not nazis or right wing or hooligans.
I am most certainly not an expert on social issues such as racism and or civil rights and liberties. But the word “racism” has a more ample and ambiguous meaning now it is much more than the perception one race’s superiority over another or others, it includes the proliferation of stereotypes and connotations of marked differences in a person, both physical and social, because of race.
For example a person can be called a racist for being a white(anglo, non-semite)american, that says things againts Irish (anglo, non-semite) persons. This is because there is a spread ignorance amongst many peoples as to what racism is. Lets just say that in today’s understanding of it, it includes, Racism(traditional),bigotry, stereotyping, racial slurs, racial profiling, etc, etc.
So the concept that there is no or little “racism”, there is that word again, is an urban myth. there is plenty of it, specially behind closed doors. And then once in a while Full on ‘racist” laws are passed.
Also some don’t understand the difference between race and ethnicity.

Right, so I know there was a DVD of our Treble winning season for the CL (Barca: Road to Rome that apparently has crappy quality and biased commentators taken from Barca (well, duh). Can anyone confirm? I might get it if it’s not too bad ), but I was wondering if there was a Liga version? Like all our games from that season in a DVD format.
I’d get a rapidshare account and just flip back Jnice’s old posts (moltes gràcies btw, and I’m counting on you again this season 😀 ) but it’d take too long to download the whole season, y’know? (And most likely crash my laptop). So… anyone got a clue?
Also, if someone can forward me a link where I can order Barca: Best Year of our Life book online, I’d be grateful.
I know this is kinda totally random, but I get these things totally free if I can find ’em all 😀
Go here, Kari, for the book:
http://www.casadellibro.com/libro-barca-el-millor-any-de-la-nostra-vida-catala-castella-angles/1621360/2900001354390/en_gb
Cool bookshop, by the by, if you’re ever in Barcelona. Also very close to a killer xocolata spot.
The “Road to Rome” DVD isn’t all that great. I wouldn’t bother with it, frankly.
Moltes gracies, Kxevin!
Some quick questions since I’m old-school and have never actually ordered anything online:
-Are there any “hidden” things, such as additional taxes (other than the import tax of course) I should know about?
-How long does it usually take to ship? A week or so?
-What is NIF/CiF ? What should I put there, if anything?
-Do they mail it directly to my house or does it have to get to me via a FedEx or something?
-The price is in Euro, so how would I go about paying it?
Thanks again!
–Nope.
–Depends on how busy they are, but they usually ship pretty fast.
–Don’t worry about it. I just fill in the starred boxes.
–Direct to whatever address you specify.
–Whatever credit card you use will do the math n’stuff.
And voila, one exceptional book. I ordered mine directly from the publisher, Angle, but they are right up the road from Casa del Llibro.
There CAN be hiddens things, depending on where you order and what you order.
I once order a 11kg Telescope and I had to pay 3x the normal price cause the sites don’t know about the TVA, taxes when crossing the border etc. And sometimes there a 3rd party issue. One has the item available, the other doesn’t etc…
I suppose this applies more to Europe because there are so many countries (to cross if necessary)…

Yay Iniesta!
Dude, that’s so awesome!
My only beef with it is that Andres isn’t it the middle! It’s always about That Other Guy, eh, Spanish commercial people? I see how it is! 😀
Agree with kari. I’m afraid to pour out my cheerios in the morning, Im afraid Im going to get Cesc-ios. (even here in America)
el implacable andres iniesta, skills and plays not many goals (there are two missing) 😉 it just makes you wanna go grab a ball. I seriously have some pilgrimage to Fuentealbilla to do.

Interview with Adriano with the official website. So far, I’m liking what I’m reading. Hopefully, I’ll like what I see, too (and I mean his football people 😀 ):

No Dan yet, please no one mention hewhoshallnotbenamed or his club…
once cesc’s name is mentioned , he will get a beep on his iphone.
and he will be here in a sec
oh damnit.. i just mentioned *hewhoshallnotbenamed* by accident
Noooooooo!
You should be banned.
Xavi: “Arsenal need to understand they are only delaying the inevitable. If we don’t manage to get his signature this season then Arsenal only really have him on loan for a year – because there is nothing they can do to stop him joining next summer.”
I have never in my whole life being an Arsenal fan come across a more classless and arrogant bunch of cunts. That is all I wanted to say. Good day.
Crap!
If you say it they will come.
I blame Barca96 for this one 🙂

I have never, in my entire life as person, come across such a profound and insightful comment.
Not to mention Classy…
Thanks Barca 96 hahaha, newsnow:arsenal must be getting millions of clicks right now!
Bring on the storm!
TBH, Xavi is right :ninja
that’ll be 5 million more pounds, thank you very much : )
What do you guys think of the new training kits? I think they’re good unlike the GROTESQUE ones of last season. I like the design on the back!
Its pretty cool actually, might get one when im over there in september 😀
BTW Newsnow only puts it on the Arsenal feed if the Arsenal or Cesc is mentioned in the original blog and not the comments. So you can say Cesc as much as you like as long as it’s not the original post. All that means is that Gooners are actively coming onto the site as opposed to following a link…
Yeah! Mock them only in comments. 🙂
this is hewhoshallnotbenamed’s letter to wenger (in spainsh) 😀
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/7289/lacarta.png
oh gawd… from now on, I’ll just asume that there’s a mistake in every comment that I write… I’ll correct from the second one 😉
where is the link I posted? they usually appear 🙁
Normally we leave the gossip to others, however, one Gerard Pique is partying, ON A BOAT. With others, some of whom might be good at the game of football, others of whom are good at the game of skimpy bikinis. However, please look at the first picture here and tell me that does not look like Sandro Rosell. Just saying.

not even close actually.

CESC can stay Arsenal!!! Not that there is anything wrong with it…
No way…ha! Glad the barrier in sport has finally been broken! Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves-
Yay! Arrived in Barcelona for a week´s holiday yesterday. Just been sitting watching Bojan interviewed after morning training on Barca TV (how come Sky still offers RM TV but not Barca). Only understood bits as my Spanish isn´t great but . . . . physically he seems to have bulked up quite a bit since last year. Won´t be pushed off the ball as easily this season I´m guessing.
Regarding Barca Tv, Tim Stannard says it may have something to do with the stereotype of Catalans as stingy-half joking
Atletico at their house in the third week, that will be a tone-setter. Since Barca’s been the team to beat, I’ve feared Atletico ALMOST more than their big brother.
For whatever reason i’m getting a blank page once i attempt post a comment,do you recognize the key reason why its occuring?i’m utilizing oprea web-browser
Is Real Madrid a team we must fear, i mean with all its improvements and excellent stars, and its progression as a team? Or does Barca just calm teams down with their brilliant possession football, and deadly strike force with undeniable Messi excellence and team orchestra with Xavi?

Or does Barca just calm teams down with their brilliant possession football, and deadly strike force, with undeniable Messi excellence, and team orchestra with Xavi? should we panic that we might loose this season?
Puta farca go fuck yourselves gay assholes….(Bojan, Pique, Henry, Messi…..
