Whats up with Ibra not being in the squad today???

    • Kari
      February 20, 2010

Like jordi just posted, Ibra’s ruled out because of a discomfort in his ankle. Gah! They just keep coming.

But at least Bojan’s starting 😛 . Visca Bojan! Carpe Diem!

    word.

no jds either. i’m thinking he’s subbed on, or thiago, for toure in the second half. no milito. pep’s going with, according to paradigma guardiola, “la pareja de centrales que mas repitio la temporada pasada.” //http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyM_wzIGXXk

Would’ve preferred Milito over Marquez because I think he complements Pique better, but not worried about it.

Very excited about the Bojan start – let’s go buddy!

Hoping JDS or Thiago subs in.

I think they dont want to push Gabi too much too soon, A re-injury would be a massive blow for him.

I’m liking the midfield (given Xavi’ absence) but would have preferred Henry at CF and Jeffren/ Pedro on the wing. Stiil, have say Bojan has waited patiently for a start. Hope it goes well for him – it might be last chance saloon for him at Barca.

Ibra is a big blow. I just hope he is fine for Tuesday. Nice to see Yaya and Henry back in 11. Am more worried about injuries in practise then during matches nowadays.

      February 20, 2010

What a goal by marquez though, greeeat freekick.

      • February 20, 2010

That was almost as awesome, except he’s not Henry so. Still beautiful. I remember him scoring one a similar one last year, he seems to get one a year. But hasn’t he gotten one already this year?

Rafa no. Rafa si. I think that is the first time I have seen him execute a free kick in four years. Beautiful.

BOJAN! BOJAN! BOJAN! BOJAN! BOJAN! BOJAN!

    • February 20, 2010

Did not play too badly at all. Drifted into anonymity in the second half, but got himself nicely involved in the first. Deserved a goal.

  24. Jose
    February 20, 2010

Iniesta, Henry and Marquez have scored today… Hahahaha, the end of many droughts!

  25. Jose
    February 20, 2010

Though to be brutally honest, only Marquez’s goal would have gone in against a top level defense. 😉

ARGH! Bojan! Come on! That should have gone in…

    February 20, 2010

Racing came with no hope and are playing like it. I like how easy this is but they are making it easy for us. Good to see iniesta and henry get on score sheet. now only if bojan and messi add one each, my night will be made.

  29. Kari
    February 20, 2010

Love how the Camp Nou crowd’s whistling Canales 😀

LOVED this half–Busi tearing it up in the advanced role. Was he playing out of position this whole time, as DM? Hmm…

  30. Jim
    February 20, 2010

It’s not the goals – it’s the sharpness that’s impressing me. We’re surrounding them when they have the ball – and sorry, Ibra, but the movement up front is light years better. If Bojan can’t score today he needs to go. Bad, bad miss that was for a striker.

    • Tajh
      February 20, 2010

Its not only Ibra fault for the lack of movement up front i Believe Ibra would’ve had an hell of a game against this Racing Defense….

Plus where playing in front of our home crowd..we always perform better for them..

      • Jim
        February 20, 2010

Sorry but everybody, Bojan included, is moving sharply. The ball is flying around. Even thought he goals haven’t been built up Racing are struggling to keep up with our quick passing. That doesn’t happen when Ibra plays. Everything seems slower. May not be down to him but it’s a hell of a coincidence.

        • Luna
          February 20, 2010

Not a coincidence. Racing is severely struggling.

        • Tajh
          February 20, 2010

Well i put it down to basically different home and away form…when we are away we tend to play more hasty and rushing every pass…
IN front of our home crowd we take the time needed for the pin-point passing just look at our home league win against Sevilla…Most of our home games are like this to me..

        • February 20, 2010

The pace of this game was insane. Speed of play? I’ll show you speed of play…

    • Luna
      February 20, 2010

I think the movement up front has more to do with Racing’s very poor defensive movement, tbh

  31. Cesc Blanc
    February 20, 2010

The movement is not really better, Racing is just really rubbish.

But anyway, EL KAISER DE MICHOACON BITCHES!!!!!!

  32. Jim
    February 20, 2010

We have played a lot of rubbish teams and not looked this good.

    • y2k156
      February 20, 2010

I do tend to agree that our movement up front is better when Ibra is not in side. He is simply too slow when we lose the ball. I agree with all that Ibra brings but he needs to be sharper when he does not have the ball and currently he is not.

  33. Jim
    February 20, 2010

Only thing that will stop us running up a big score is thinking about the CL.

  34. Helge
    February 20, 2010

Wtf was that? Henry didn’t do anything at all! Oriol simply runs full of rage towards the ref after Henry fooled him with a nice trick, then Oriol crashes with his own player and Henry gets a yellow card?!?

  37. Jim
    February 20, 2010

Messi is needing to get back on the wing. He’s not nearly as effective in the middle.

Sky says Pique seems to have a problem? Oh no !

He played as himself and Xavi today

phil Schoen…get off the D please

  44. February 20, 2010

Haha did anyone just see Eto’o get a yellow for diving? His reaction was priceless, as was Mourinho’s.

  45. Bill
    February 20, 2010

wow, the game ended with 8 or 9 la masia players on the pitch! Amazing

Iniesta was all man today. He was everywhere and controlled things in the middle

Busquets played very well in Xavi’s position and the Yaya is amazing as a DM, very comfortable on the ball and doesn’t get harassed there. Much better ball movement than last week.

Why messi not joining celebration for goals especially when kids like
Thiago scores. DO he remember how Ronaldinho supported him in his early days with senior team.

  47. Jim
    February 20, 2010

I think Messi might have a problem with his knee, Deepak. He was seen on Sky rubbing it two or three times. Could account for his virtual invisibility at times.

I’m getting a bad feeling about the reports that might come out in the next day or so for the Stuttgart game.

    • Helge
      February 20, 2010

    • Hilal
      February 20, 2010

I’m sure if it was anything remotely serious Pep would have taken him off. He probably just told him to take it easy just in case, or at least I hope so.

    • jordi™
      February 20, 2010

I felt the same way when Xavi went off last week, my hope is since he didnt come off it wont be bad, but on the flipside he may have aggravated something. Anyway Positive Thoughts and fingers crossed.

A- I love this Thiago cat
B- great to see titi find the net
C- this lineup can beat Stutgart
D- ok, no goals for bojan, but was pretty good overall, including tracking back
E- big stones to predict an inesta goal by issiah, you run shit clearly
F- robinho says he snubbed us….douch
G- How fun was our starting midfield today, further proof that we can wait a few years on Cesc, I say bring him in when he is 25 or so when Xavier is winding down.

  49. Lou
    February 20, 2010

Awesome, so happy that Thiago scored! I love that he also ran back over to the bench to celebrate with I’m guessing Jonathan.

Everyone was pretty solid really. Special mentions to Marquez, Busi and Henry who were all fantastic and of course Iniesta, who did a superb job controlling the midfield. It’s a nice confidence boost to be able to win without Xavi, particulary right before a tough away game in the Champions League.

Any word on whether Ibra is actually injured? I actually thought Bojan did OK (he was unlucky not to score), but having Ibra for the trip to Stuttgart would be a big plus.

    • Jnice
      February 20, 2010

Yeah, Thiago ran over to Jonathan.

Ibra had some discomfort in his ankle during warm ups, but it’s not too serious. He’s still probably going to play Tuesday.

  50. lovelymofo
    February 20, 2010

Not gonna lie, I can’t wait to see the review for this one. I only watched it on a little screen while at work, so I’ll have to wait till I get home for my definitive opinion. But I think I agree with Pep in that the team needed a little more control/precision.

But I’m happy with the result. The clowns that populate the Madrid press are crying foul over lil Canales getting booed and whistled at. He better get used to it!

Toure is man. his power pace and willingness to commit tactical fouls are essential. its like the rest of the team is less nervous with him.
he make a huge difference in the classico. delighted 4 thiago great for security purposes that a young player gets a goal. maybe a young iniesta with goals( although i heard more of a deco) Like the jeffren idea at less consequential moments. Iniesta wow. Flashbacks of last years movement with eto in the side great too watch. My 2 cents but overall enjoying a feel good victory
