Fantasy Update

Hey, it’s been a while since I updated all of you on Fantasy Soccer. Just in case you missed it, we’ve got a competition going through Yahoo!’s Fantasy section. Here is our group (you might have to log in to see it, but the ID is 1037).

To the info: There’s hardly anything to report. There is nothing going on here. Nothing whatsoever — sob — nothing. I’m not in horrible, horrible 19th place or anything. I’m not that far behind player Hat Trick who has 1,071.5 points compared to my 827.00, but I’ve only got 18 more weeks to make up the difference!*

I’m obviously not that good at this, but I’ve got some pertinent advice for those of you who wish to win: don’t forget to update your squad whenever you hear new information–in fact, how about this bit of advice: don’t be like the bottom 4 and forget completely to put in a full squad every single week. Whoever sccr11, Larms Awesome Team, The Cheeky Boys!!, and FC Fantastico are, you have great names for teams earning 0 points. Except sccr11, which is just a name. But still 0 points.

Only during the ACN did I remove The Yaya–thus the name of my team–from my lineup, but he’s now back in it. I also have a crappy backline and midfield (except The Yaya and Xavi, naturally). But I do have Lionel Messi and David Villa up front racking up the points. Except last week when Messi got -2.00 and Villa got only 5.50. But this coming week Messi will get a hat trick against Getafe and Villa will get two against Valladolid. Trust in my predictions, they’re never wrong.**

Kudos to Hat Trick for taking over first from FC Bojmir and kudos to Mes Que Un Club for topping 1,000pts. Those are the only three with more than 1,000.

Small awards:
Best Name: SignYoPittyOnTheRunnyKine
Alternate Best Name: TheYayaIsOneBadassBeastOfAMan
Person Who Is Going Down So Bad: Revolución. You are 1.00pts above me. You must die. I alone am best.
Best Name of A Team I Didn’t Make but so should have: MomAndDadThisIsChaseyChaseyThisIsMyMomandDad. (See previous line for reason).

*Bashir, I am so crushing you. You are horrible! You will never make up the 0.50pt deficit you are in! Mwahahaha!
*They’re always wrong.

after peaking at 8th place, I began to fall slowly, then I just got to busy to ever update and am now in 40th place.

I blame it on Isaiah, for never reminding us 😉

Alves didn’t train again today. With Alves out and Puyol suspended, who do you see making the start this weekend at right back? Will Dalmau get the nod? Will Maxwell be moved to the right? Will Pep try something crazy like Jeffren at right back again?

Abidal trained in select exercises today, do you think he’ll start?

Good question. We certainly need him, given that Getafe is a bogey team for us. If neither back starts and Puyol is suspended, what the hell do we do? I’d figure a back line of:

      Dalmau/Pique/Milito/Maxwell

But I could also see Dalmau/Pique/Txigrinski/Maxwell.

I say it isn’t worth risking Abidal. Yes, he’s been mining a rich vein of form, but let’s get him healthy. We can help control the flanks with a Keita/The Yaya midfield tandem.

Yeah, if there’s no Puyol (meaning either Marquez or Chiggy start) then we definitely need to play The Yaya!

I took a two week break and haven’t been in the 10 ten since, lol.

And Juve is in town to talk turkey for Caceres. Apparently we’re a ways apart on money, but I expect that to get resolved. Right now we’re saying 13m, and they’re saying 6 or 7. I’d figure 9 or 10 to be the magic number, and it will be a loss for us. Not good business, since we signed him for around 16m.

Looks like I know when my next trip to Barcelona is: the week of June 13, so that I can vote.

I’m having major issues with that right now. I want to go and vote, but I’m just way too poor/busy to travel right now.

    • February 4, 2010

Wait, you have to go to Barcelona to vote? Welp–looks like I’m going to miss out on that what with the World Cup and all.

Yep. Mail and Internet voting came up for debate, but it was determined that it would be too easy to game the system that way. Though I confess to not seeing how difficult it would be to implement a system that would have you register with your soci number/key, then vote. They can do it when you’re purchasing match tix, so surely they can do it for a presidential vote.

I’ve often wondered if Pedro could play right back. Unfortunately, in my mind he is not even close to positionally sounds enough for the role.

ooof, I don’t like the prospects of any of those combinations in the back line. Our poor back line is what ended up hurting us the most I felt in first leg of Copa del Rey. And if I remember correctly, I remember Getafe getting a lot of early shots on goal against us the first time we played them, only to be saved by the post and Valdes. and unfortunately, I won’t get to see the game as I will be headed to new orleans for my bachelor party. although, on the upside, I’m going to new orleans for my bachelor party : )

After literally missing the first 3 weeks, I’m in 6th. Not bad for someone who had a giant deficit to make up.

    Climbin the ladder….

AFTER BEING IN FIRST FOR THE WHOLE SEASON, I AM LIVID TO DISCOVER THAT I HAVE FALLEN INTO SECOND PLACE. IN MY HONEST DEFENSE, I HAVE BEEN IN COSTA RICA FOR THE PAST MONTH AND YAHOO FANTASY SOCCER IS BLOCKED AT EVERY INTERNET CAFE. HENCE, I CANNOT UPDATE MY SQUAD. THEREFORE, BY DEFAULT, I RESUME MY POSITION TO FIRST PLACE.

    FC BOJMIR OUT.

Also, Isaiah, I have the best name.

P.S. Hat Trick, GET OFF ME.
