Canadian, cule, corporate wage slave. Came late to the beautiful game, but fell under FCB's spell in 2006 and never looked back.

From Barcastuff : Barcelona line-up (official): Pinto – Alves Pique Bartra Montoya – Thiago Song Iniesta – Alexis Cesc Tello #fcblive

This will be interesting. Like that Xavi and Villa are rested. Would have liked to see Delofeu get a start. Won’t be easy. Need an early goal.

Cesc in the False Messi position. Excellent. A bit surprised that Villa isn’t starting, but I suppose they want to be careful with him before the PSG game. He will probably come in at around the 60th minute.

That was a passing/finishing masterclass by Cesc Fabregas. Easily the best player on the pitch by a long yard.

As NZM pointed out Cesc Fabregas plays much better with Iniesta as his midfield partner.

And a few on this blog said Alexis thought more slowly on the field than the others. Maybe he and Cesc think faster. They have always seemed to have a great understanding. this is just another example.
Cesc is so wonderful at kniting the forward line together with his touch and vision

      Abi returns
Fab reworks his magic x 3
      Alexis scores two
      We have a clean sheet
Bartra and montoya start and play well.
      The Manita is back

      And the best part

Even dos santos gets playing time.

Best league game in a long time.

This was quite a memorable match and at the same time was quite a insignificant one.

Cesc scored a hat-trick, Abi came back & Deulofeu got some time in the middle and that makes it memorable for me.

In general, considering Messi will not start on Wednesday, Cesc being on good form is very good. Cesc can at least play in his best position. Flanked by Alexis & Villa gives us good enough front line.

I also feel that Bartra is coming up ok.

Well, this got out of way, now we can focus exclusively on coming wednesday.

Does anyone have a link to watch replay? Dying to see the Rotation working well.

Did Tello and Alexis play wide or did one stay in front? Did either fullback attack?

My live stream kept quitting. But I got the impression that Cesc played at CF and then when he dropped into midfield, Alexis slid across from the right (leaving space for Dani). It really is a lovely roation, because it lets Cesc roam a bit and use his wonderful touch and creativity to create goals. And when he gets a chance, he has wonderful composure in front of goal. He’s about the last person I would expect to be a good CF (not being particularly athletic), but he really made the forward line hum today.
Like I’ve said above, I think Cesc and Alexis really have a great understanding. Indeed, the moment Cesc gets the ball, Alexis seems to step on the gas because he knows Cesc is am ambitious passer. I wonder if Cesc’s dip in form (if you could all it that?) had something to do with Alexis not scoring as much.

Which is why it may be hard to slot in Pedro on Wednesday, because if Cesc plays at CF, Villa/Sanchez (mostly sanchez) will have to slid across and replace Cesc at CF when he goes roaming. That’s just not Pedro’s style of game.

Where are the alexis and FABregas naysayers now!!

Oh wait it is Alexis’ 2 assists. Just watched the video again. They were simply jelly and jelly. One scores the other assists.

And look at that Iniesta’s pass at the end. Beauty doesn’t suffice. Even Benzema would score off that. But cesc’s control was awesome.

Wools, missed the Alves addition. Was there a winger on the Alves side?

Very interesting that the first two barcelona goals both came from passes from left to right (by Cesc) and then back again (from Alexis). That never happens with Messi, who NEVER passes left to right.
Certainly, the first two goals were a big variation on Barca’s normal style with Messi.
