watching the arsenal game…how does arse wenger think he can get away with playing without a defensive mid? he’s playing fab, ramsey, and diaby all at the same time. retarded(napoleon dynamite voice).

  3. Miguel
    November 7, 2009

they’re putting song on now. poor diaby. maymaymaybe if wenger had started w/song in the line up in the first place they wouldn’t have been so overrun and that injury wouldn’t have had to happen?

Cant wait for match. Here is a video of Pep giving a pep talk to the players… really interesting stuff.

Hey guys, anyone know what the starting line-up is? I’m going with a:

    Xavi- Yaya – Iniesta
    Messi – Ibra – Henry

But I think Henry will probably start on the bench, so Keita will “replace” Iniesta, who will push up.

In regards to links, I’ve got a good one (early, I know 😀 ) But you’ll need Veetle to watch it. It’s English GOLTV, and I’ll probably repost on the LiveBlog. If anyone wants to see Milan vs EE draw, then you can watch it now 😛 . *

dayuuuum its gonna be interesting. And puyol and abidal are playing on the flanking meaning no offense from out defense (no alves or maxwell)

wonder who’s gonna be the maestro…
    yaya or busquets

    • Kari
      November 7, 2009

THE Yaya of course. Remember this fixture last year?

THAT is what he’ll do to them.

  13. Ciaran
    November 7, 2009

I would imagine that Sergio Busquets will be playing at DM with Yaya in the more advanced role.
Keita will be doing his box-to-box thing and Busquets sitting deep doing his give-the-ball-away thing.
Pedro right and Henry left is a good thing.
And Xavi, Iniesta & Messi have been fairly shit recently

    • Ciaran

Oh yeah and no Alves either… where’s the creativity coming from?

    November 7, 2009

what a shitty line-up… who in our midfield can make a dribble or an assist? I hope they prove me wrong 🙁

    • poipoi
      November 7, 2009

don’t you fell this kind of line-up ( all muscle no class) is more for away games?? people pay to see the team win, ok. Pep can do whatever he thinks in order to get a victory… but people also pay to see the players that play more than nice.

goal by pedro! what an assist from BANGS!!

pedro! deserves even more credit now

    November 7, 2009

I didn’t like the Messi for Pedro! sub, and I still don’t. It didn’t accomplish anything, because he subbed Henry for Iniesta. It was a win, but the defense was very funky today. Not good.

And remind me never to run the LiveBlog via FireFox. Laggy and sucky.

    • Carles P
      November 7, 2009

I hated that last goal. Poor defensive play, and I thought there was not one sole person to blame, as the midfield should have tracked back, and poor positioning on behalf of all of our backs.

Can’t we just play perfectly every game… I know high hopes, but damn you Barca, we got spoiled last year.

it’s not the pretty possession football we barca fans are accustomed to but i must say real is playing pretty well. they’re looking more like last year’s el inginiero’s villarreal, i think.

juventus! fuck. why’d i look at the score? i was gonna watch that later.

Stats so far this season, in the order of La Liga, Champions League, CDR, Super Copa & Uefa Super Cup

    Goals :

    Messi – 7,1,0,2,0 = 10
    Ibra – 7,1,0,0,0 = 8

    Bojan – 1,0,0,1,0 = 2
    Pique – 2,0,0,0,0 = 2
    Xavi – 0,0,0,1,0 = 1
    Alves – 1,0,0,0,0 = 1
    Henry – 1,0,0,0,0 = 1

    Assists :

    Ibra – 5,1,0,1,0 = 7

    Xavi – 3,1,0,1,0 = 5

    Iniesta – 2,0,0,0,0 = 2
    Pedro – 0,0,0,1,0 = 1
    Bojan – 0,0,1,0,0 = 1
    Maxwell – 1,0,0,0,0 = 1
    Jeffren – 0,0,1,0,0 = 1
    Puyi – 1,0,0,0,0 = 1

P.S. Congrats Henry for finally having your say in the chart 🙂 Ibra again proved my point that he’s been the most consistent in our attack till now!!

Ibra out for a week, but it won’t matter much. He would’ve rested the Copa del Rey match and Sweden isn’t playing, as far as I know.

    Hope he gets better.

Defense was very shakey today, specially Pique who was…I dont know…
I think Abidal was covering the offside in the second goal. Slow repositionning. But I will give it another look tomorrow. Now bed time.

Parea really fucked this game with his gift to higuain

    • PM
      November 7, 2009

They also gifted the 1st goal to kaka. Not playing Aguero and Maxi from the beginning was not a good idea. Aguero could raise hell in the 1st half.
Our defenders also need to raise their game, specially Marquez and Chyg. We should put them together in mid week CDR match.
On the positive side, Ramos is out for classico and possibly Marcelo/Drenthe plays at the left back. I’m sure Messi won’t mind that 🙂

    November 7, 2009

Just watched the last goal again a few times as i thought I might have been watching a different game.

    1. Abidal attempts a shocking diagonal pass just outside his box which could have been cut off by either of two opponents and was by one of them.
    2. Despite the fact he lost the ball Abidal leaves his man free to run in towards the box causing Chyg to come across .
    3. all is not yet lost as the scorer has run offside – except that Abidal who hasn’t a hope of tackling either runs back far enough to be the only one playing him onside.
    4. Easy goal.

Add this to the fact that he caused the first – again by rotten position – and that it was he who he let his man go when Keita got booked and I’m sorry but he was a liability today.

However, the most disappointing thing for me was that the whole team looked out of sorts. Don’t know if it would have been better starting the A team or not but we never really had the type of control of the ball that allows us to strangle opponents and this was against a side who not only didn’t really park the bus but also had the worst defence I’ve seen all season. (Wonder if they came hoping to man mark Xavi ? 🙂 )

I’d love to know how Pep saw the game developing when he named his starting 11. Busi and Keita can’t control a game in midfield – I felt sorry for Yaya but he didn’t have his best either – and the defence looked ill at ease all day. Puyol and Abidal weren’t going to create much.

I am happy to see that we came out with 3 points. And, we did it without our 3 best players. I’m sure it will increase other players confidence too. Henry got his first goal. Now goals will keep coming to him. Henry being a genuine goal threat from the left is gonna make Messi dangerous again.
Man I feel like some thrashing is waiting for Inter 😀

    1. Pedro is really maturing, we may not need to rush for a purchase on that left side if he continues to develop like this.

    2. Pep, please play Iniesta in the midfield role, preferably with Xavi and either give Pedro, Jeffren or Bojan (in that order) more time on the wing.

    3. Ibra…you are killing them with these passes, entertaining and effective.

    4. Messi…could you give the Goal keeper just a chance? Its always keeper moves a milimetre one way and Messi nicks it into the other corner.

    5. Resting Xavi, Messi and Iniesta will pay dividends and Ibra can now get a week ‘off’. Messi looked good from what I saw in the highlights (was in class and couldn’t watch the game).

British tabloid News of the World has today reported that Barcelona are readying a bid for Manchester United and English International striker Wayne Rooney (24) in a deal that would see Rooney become the world’s most expensive footballer.

In a revelation of a report, it is stated that a proposed bid – believed to be worth around €95 million Euro – could well be considered by the English Giants due to their increasing debts.

    • Ramzi

      – Wayne Rooney….become the world’s most expensive footballer.

    November 8, 2009

I agree its unlikely and he’s not the sort of personality I warm to but . .

financially it would be well worth his while with the tax differential ( dont ask me why they still need money on their wages)
United’s finances are in a (growing) mess
Rooney saw what we did to them in the CL final and didn’t like it
United aren’t the team they were last season – unless they turn it on in the next 45 minutes 🙂
he left Merseyside to go to Man U !!!

Mind you, young baby just arrived and do we even need him?
