Well the loveblob was .. AWESOME!

Never thought medical advice would be discussed over it.

Also, your wife won all the internets by correctly predicting the manita..

I’m a newbie around here, but that was the weirdest LB I’ve been a part of. It was great 😀

Now that’s the definition of ball to hand…

And this game illustrates very well the importance of the penalties not given when we’re 2 goals up – that Alexis situation was a clear foul, and it would have been 3-0, instead it became 2-2. Then there was the handball in their box, not given either, meanwhile 2 penalties called against us, the first 100%, but the second…

No the onus has come on the defenders to keep their hands behind their backs when defending a cross. That said the reffing was poor, but amplified even more so because our defense was not performing.

Oh Dani Alves… could you have acted any more stupid?!?
    I don’t think so.

What an unnecessary sending off 🙁
This could cost us at Mallorca. It’s probably, next to Betis Sevilla, our toughest away match left in the league. Why on earth do you raise your hand in that situation, being yourself already on a yellow and the team 3(!) goals ahead. This deserves a special blitzen award!

Montoya vs Real Mallorca? Or Puyol, Masch, Piqué and Adriano?

      March 20, 2012

I don’t think he did it consciously, that’s the natural movement of the body.

The fact remains though – we were not given 2 clear penalties and it could have costs us the game.

No, if you are on a yellow, you have to control (consciously!) your arms better.
Especially if a player runs at you whose only option is to fire a cross into the box.

In that situation, in particular due to the yellow, Dani Alves should have done a Sergio Ramos, if you know what I’m talking about.
Sergio Ramos exaggerates his ‘putting the hands behind your back’, he does it too often. And it actually makes me laugh to always see him play that way in defense. But for once, Dani Alves should have acted the same way as his EE counterpart.

About the penalties for Granada: They were both correct decisions. Maybe Dani Alves was unlucky to concede the penalties, but for the 2nd penalty, I call it stupid. Sorry.

I don’t dispute the first one. But if handballs are not penalties against EE, why should they be against us?

And both the Alexis situation and the handball in Granada’s box were clear penalties, for us. Not given…

Hearing Adriano didn’t start the second half because he has a muscle problem. 3-4-3 for Mallorca I guess.

3 man defense consisting of 2 CBs and a DM? Oh no!

        I vote for Montoya 🙂

IF I recall correctly Mash played the right CB IN a 3-4-3 already this season and did well. Heck he isn’t even considered a DM in fifa12 after the new update.

Muniesa have been training with the first team since Abidal left. Maybe he may start. Montoya hasn’t really been seen since the CDR.

Apparently we haven’t conceded 2 penalties at the Camp Nou since 1993, but it mattered little considering how on fire Messi is! Would be nice to see EE concede a penalty before the season ends, however futile my wishing may be.

I’m angry at our defenders. If Barca want to win the CL, they have to defend better. And can someone else besides Messi, Tello and Xavi score??? Also, according to Barcatuff, Adriano is possibly injured (fudge!!!!!!)

    Sight….. Congrats Leo 🙂

the first penalty was very harsh on Alves given that the Granada player Shepard Alves rather than playing on with the ball which kept rolling metres away from the player, was it a penalty? maybe? but very harsh!

we all agree there is no conspiracy but surely! SURELY! we agree that the ref did a very poor job, it doesn’t matter that we may have let things slip defensively, but the referee screwed the pooch on a few occasions, it makes sense why some maybe think there is a conspiracy.

Otherwise another great win, we let it get complicated but we still managed to finish it off in the end.

Also props to Cuenca for playing a full game and being heavily involved in our first two goals.

Thank God for our offense. Defense has to do better against Milan.

Milan isn’t doing too hot though, considering their loss to Arsenal and just getting kicked out of their league’s cup. And we won’t be playing under Spanish refs. 🙂

Adriano will be out for 10 days. Pep’s dream of fielding 10 midfielders is getting closer to reality.

How in the hell did we let 3 slip past our gates after that brilliant first half?! Pep needs to whip the boys into shape.

    So sweet:
Widow Cesar: “I’m very happy Messi surpassed my husband because Messi is a very good person, like my husband was.” [rac1]

    The Bad:
Out of the whole squad, we have 3 grown-up defenders for the next league game, one of whom is really midfielder, and 4 real grown-up defenders for the next 10 days for all competitions and one of them is really a midfielder. I’ve got the thin squad blues.

Speaking of poor reffing…. I thought Messi was offside on his second goal, but it was hard to tell from the angle of the replay (and the crappy quality of the stream). Did anyone get a better look at it?

    • G6O
      March 20, 2012

He was onside. But there were also two situations in the first half when an offside was called and there was none

    234 @ 24.

And that we’re still talking about other stuff bout the game and not celebrating… Aren’t we spoiled culés?

Come on guys, give positive thoughts a chance, If the EE claws back to victory from such setbacks, we call it winning mentality. and that is what the boys showed today, stupid to concede 3 goals? yes. Because our defenders can not defend? No. Because our defenders switched off in a game they thought we dominate comfortabley? More likely.

  13. mega_tajh
    March 20, 2012

And to note not one of the goals we conceded were from open play, all from set plays, so I don’t entirely blame our defenders for everything.

Our team attacks as a team and defend as a team.

This team is too good. The first half Granada barely had a sniff of the ball. In the second the focus faded and the pulled 2 back, which reignited the team and they decided to put 3 more on the board.

I thought the defense was pretty good today. Yes, they scored 3, but nothing from open play.

On second penalty, I didn’t know that you could just stop in the box and let the trailing defender run into you and that would be a penalty. I like how the player is looking for the ref as he was falling down.

I generally think the handball rule is terribly enforced.

The way that Messi makes those runs from about 2-3 onside to the last man when the ball is played is just beautiful. Those are the runs that break high lines.

And people are worried because Adriano is injured? He wouldn’t have played against Milan anyway. Only 3 defenders against Mallorca? That’s what pep has been experimenting for.

Penalties are in general distributed to randomly. Would be better to have free kicks also in the penalty area…

    How was Pique today?

Also, should we even keep Adriano considering he can’t go 3 games without getting injured?

Jeffren had the same problem and we let him go, so why not.
