With this madrid line-up, dare I say this madrid might be going 4-2-4 ultra attacking,or may be it’s my nerves?

Any idea who’s going to be on the right wing for them? Kaka or Ozil?

To be fair!! Madrid actually gave us a few scary moments…but we are BARCA..GENIUS oozing from every pores!!

What a fantastic game! Despite the violence, RM really played very well.

And Alexis too. I hope it’s nothing serious

BTW, how the hell was that not a penalty – Pepe didn’t even touch the ball, he just pushed him so hard, he injured his shoulder…

I agree. Pedro and Alves were far too lazy in possession on the wings in the second half. Perhaps its fair to say the team thought, like some of those in the liveblog, that the tie was already decided by halftime?

What a weird way for the game to end…

This should never have been so close – I don’t remember us ever been so sloppy with possession, and even then, we went 2-0 up but instead of killing the game with a third and fourth in the beginning of the second half when we were really dominating, we weren’t really looking for another goal and eventually let them back in the game.

We should have killed Madrid’s confidence for a long time into the future, instead we did the opposite…

Well thank goodness for that! I’m all for exciting games, but that was a bit too exciting for me!

And that ref was terrible! For both teams! At least his mistakes were unbiased, but honestly he lost control of the match early on and it all just went downhill from there.

Whatever. We got through. It was pretty ugly, but the best team won. Like I said, I don’t even care if we won the CdR, I just wanted the pleasure of knocking RM out.

And if we can’t win the Cup I hope Mirandes does. Wonderful Cinderella story there.

Horrible reffing, horrible news about Iniesta, and horrible play by Barca. The only silver lining from this game is that we are through to the next round. The team’s play today was worrying; I am struggling to think of a time we looked that flat. This was most definitely not the A game that Barca brings to clasicos.

Are the accumulating minutes catching up on a squad that doesn’t have much depth?

Pique should not be starting for us on current form.
Abidal really suffered in this game against ozil.
Madrid played wonderfully for the most part.

My adrenaline actually hasn’t faded yet O.O

  14. January 25, 2012

To be frank, we should be thanking our lucky stars we got through. We were pretty much sh*t except for those two goals.

    Someone wake Pique up.

Also, we don’t usually concede in the Camp Nou, but when we do, we do it twice. -__-

Credit to EE though, they made it a contest again and again. Also, this should be a blow to Mou, his team responded superbly by displaying attacking football they USED to be known for. Gives Pep some food for thought for the next ultra-important Liga Clasic. Watch out for the press claiming moral victory to EE.

This win is all the more costly with Andres out.

Anyway, a win is a win. Lets march on!

Our lucky stars also somehow got Lass a get out of jail card, not to mention 2 injuries! If that’s lucky, I’d hate to see unlucky…

OMG. I died many times there. Whew…

    Thank God we’re through.

We just CANNOT play like that again.

Good game for RM. I knew thay had it in them. But they do have to get properly carded for their bad fouls. Ugh

    Bad, bad game from us.

Pique and Shakira need to sort the shit out.
Alexis ran into cul de sacs
    Pedro inept but for goal
Biggest problem in game was the Midfield could not establish control.
Also Alves and Abidal were not protected.

  17. January 25, 2012

D*mn Gerry Armstrong. He reminded that we lost a 2 goal lead to Malaga earlier and we conceded twice on cue..

I thought it was just me. jeez, I will wake 12 hours later if I fall to bed.

  19. January 25, 2012

Flatlined twice and was resuscitated twice…phew!
    That was exhausting…but we’re through!!!
    Yay, happy Xaviday!

  20. January 25, 2012

They outplayed us to be honest. If we had gone out today, it would’ve been completely justified.

these are the games we need. keita most. a calming and physical prescence. EE was killing as wid long balls to their four forwards.

  22. Kimcelona
    January 25, 2012

Crappy. Thats all I can say. EE had us on the ropes. What the hell?
I wanna punch Pique in the face..maybe he misses his customary head bleeding for each season? I dont know if its Shakira or what but he has been AWFUL. Get a clue! Really bad give aways, sloppy and just all over the damn place defensively. While Puyi had some great interceptions, he had kind of a stinker as well.

Pep better give them a good talking to…make them watch this awful display..see their complacency and their carelessness.
We’re through but I’m pissed at the crappy ref (for both sides!) and the crappy play of the team on a whole.

That match was out of control and heartattack inducing. I prefer the high scoring boring matches thank you very much. :S

Sorry for the harsh words but what a shitty game that was! This will totally give RM confidence to be more offensive in their lineup when they play us in the Liga Clasico. Makes me feel so-so with our qualification to the semis knowing even if they lost this match, they have the upper hand. Defense was horrendous..they need to wakeup!and Pique needs some ass-whooping big time!

      January 25, 2012

Agreed. I have a bitter taste in my mouth.
EE outplayed us in our own stadium.

  26. January 25, 2012

There’s been a lot of flak against Pique but I don’t think he had that bad a game. I just think our overall pressing was off and Madrid was excellent and slick in their passing: quick, direct, no lounging on the ball. This meant that our backline was all too often isolated or one on one against their man (Ozil vs Abidal a couple times, Kaka/Benz against Pique) which is a recipe for disaster against skillful players.

Maybe Euler and Ramzi can say something about why our pressing was off in this game, we just seemed a half second late to every man.

      January 25, 2012

I don’t want to take anything away from Madrid, because they did play well in a hostile environment. However, for some reason, it seemed like the entire team wasn’t quite there mentally, almost as if they couldn’t keep up with the speed of the game as they played through a mental fog.

      • Nik

And by entire team, I mean Barca of course.

Im actually most surprised at how Oezil’s feints fooled abi.He even outpaced him sometimes.Im not worried about the way the match went, Their best game still isn’t enough to beat us,while we can only improve from here.Reminded me of the super copa game, only we had a messi goal to get the last minute win.As for them having a belief next time they come to the Camp Nou, same thing was said after we lost the copa, then we promptly beat them at the Bernabeu.

So now we’re down to Messi, Pedro and Cuenca as forwards 🙁

        We’re missing Iniesta too

And we have Valencia to play in the semis…

        • January 25, 2012

          And Villarreal away. Next game.

Can we sign someone this week?

            Horrible situation

Perdo is not at all in a condition to be starting for the team right now – he will score if he’s one-on-one with the keeper as today (although he also missed a sitter at the end of the game where he should’ve left it to Messi.

Cuenca hasn’t been playing that great in 2012

We could probably play Thiago as a winger but this means Cesc will have to be responsible for controlling possession and he hasn’t exactly excelled at that recently…

We’re 5 points behind and can’t afford to drop any more points.

            Very very bad…

The worst part is that while the Arbeloa challenge on Iniesta was accidental, Pepe just mugged Alexis in the box and not only he injured him and he will be out for weeks but it wasn’t even called…

  28. January 25, 2012

Funnily though, I hope they attack against us in the remain Clasic(s) We might not win every time but it also may leave room for a shellacking..

  30. January 25, 2012

Valencia (CdR Home – Alexis and Iniesta due back)
    Osasuna (Liga Away)
    Bayer Leverkusen (CL Away)
