El Clasico Podcast with Forza Futbol

I had the absolute pleasure of recording my first ever podcast with Forza Futbol, a site dedicated to covering and podcasting about Spanish football. Gabe from Managing Madrid, who honorably woke up at 6am on a Spanish holiday to talk up The Royal Whites, and myself were the guests for the Clasico Edition of the podcast.

Have a listen! Sure, half of them were Madridistas and the other was a Perico [and one was suspiciously neutral], but they’re still awesome people, so be nice. ๐Ÿ˜€

[No Di Marias or Busis were hurt in the making of this podcast]

There, I listened to all of it!

I really really really really REALLY want to stress that I laughed when you picked Callejon. ๐Ÿ˜€

Are you going to be in Monday podcast as well, mentioned at the end?

One thing: If Graham Hunter is actually spot on, and Pep actually has arranged the fitness plan so that we peak (and eventually wane) slightly later than usual, does Hlebruary exist anymore? Or do we get hlebbed in March? ๐Ÿ˜›

i think that the truth is that tito’s ailments had to do with the fact that he attempted to de-hleb, or exorcise the hleb from, Can Barca. it was exhausting physical, spiritually and emotionally. he basically was reduced to a puddle. but they nursed him back.

it was risky for tito, and hopefully it will be worth it, since it is unknown for how long the hleb-orcism will keep hlebness away from the Nou Camp.

Hopefully there will be no Hlebuary this season. Itโ€™s all going up from now on ๐Ÿ™‚

I just rewatched the Babies-BATE game, and I have a few comments (no awards):

–Pedro is well on his way to earning his ! back. Great performance from him, and so nice to hear the crowd chanting his name again.
–Cuenca was MOTM for me, with Rafinha and Sergi Roberto not far behind. Unbelievable talent there.
–I heard several horns in the Camp Nou crowd. We need more of that. Great atmosphere.
–I’m not the only one who thinks Deulofeu has gotten rather chunky over the last year. My English commentators mentioned it several times. I have serious doubts about his fitness level–did you see how he was puffing near the end of the game, after playing only 30 minutes or so? I also question his mental focus–his play has seemed somewhat disjointed lately, like he is not in tune with the rest of the team. I know he is supposed to be the next big talent, but for me there is something missing there. He is still young, though, so I’ll hold off judgement for now.
–I predicted Kiko wouldn’t get a look-in, and he didn’t. Something seems to have gone seriously wrong with his development, as he isn’t even getting playing time with the B team right now. Does anyone who has followed his progress more closely than I have any insight into this? Are his anxiety issues the problem, or is he just not “getting” the System?

Oh, I forgot–I am going to miss Pinto’s Plait of Power SO much! ๐Ÿ™

Agree on all points. Deulofeu is still young though, too young I think. It will all (hopefully) fall in place in time, esp when Pep gets more time with him.

Btw blitzen, I know you’re on a flight but I’m thinking of heading to Shoeless Joe’s on King for the game. @TOBarcaPenya (don’t think they are official) are hosting

Thanks for the invite, mani! Won’t be able to make it, though, I will barely get home in time for the kickoff and won’t be in any shape to go out again right away. (Also, my cat might object. ๐Ÿ˜› )

My absolute glee at seeing Manchester United fail to make it out of the CL group stage was somewhat mitigated by the nasty injury to Vidic. That’s a real shame and I hope he recovers soon.

I’m torn about Man City not making it through. On the one hand, I’m enjoying their football at the moment and I would like that to be rewarded. OTOH, how ironic is it that neither Manchester side made it but Arsenal did??? ๐Ÿ˜†

Very sad for Ajax, but WOW! Lyon!

Lyon’s actually being investigated for being fixed. Watching some of the goals, which were absolutely laughable, not to mention that they scored 6 goals after the break, precisely what they needed to qualify, and I wouldn’t put it past being fixed.

    great job kari!

i think you did very well especially after your opening remarks as you grew more comfortable; very detailed yet accessible explanations and liked your jokes, even tho’ no one seemed laughed at, so serious ๐Ÿ˜›

anyway looking forward to your next one!

    • December 8, 2011

      Thank you, yev!

My jokes are never laughed at. ๐Ÿ™

Really enjoyed your First Ever Podcast Kari ;). Though I’m actually kinda Noob to your write-ups (being from Barca Offside) it was a pleasure listening to your thoughts and those cute jokes. Among those nice Madridistas it seemed at a times as you were in the Bernabeu in front of that hostile crowd and still doing your ‘thing’ like the recent Barca has done there :p. Brought a huge smile on my face whenever you had the ball, oh sorry, mean the word and delicately with supreme finesse netting it in Madrid’s net, lol.

Looking forward to your future matches/podcasts..

and I applaud your courage amongst those madridistas. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh wow. Thank you so much for that comment. Really made me happy to read it. Glad you enjoyed it!
